Thermoteknix, a growing but well-established company based in North Cambridge, is looking for an FPGA Design Engineer to join and play a key role within our existing team.

Candidate
We are seeking an experienced and motivated FPGA Design Engineer. The company sees this as a key appointment and an excellent opportunity for the right individual.
The Role
The role involves a wide variety of FPGA design tasks supporting infrared system design.
You will be joining the FPGA Design Team, which writes modules for a library that is used across our range of infrared cameras. Each module is written in SystemVerilog to a pre-agreed specification. Code is formatted according to a style guide. Verification is performed with cocotb, which interfaces to a well-known RTL simulator. Experience with cocotb (or Python itself) is desirable. You will be required to write timing constraints, understand timing reports and where necessary, modify designs to close timing.
Members of the FPGA Design Team work together with hardware, software and mechanical engineers to meet customer requirements on a short timescale.
Experience
We are looking for candidates with experience of:
- SystemVerilog.
- Python.
- RTL verification.
- Writing timing constraints and ensuring these are met.
- Design for low power.
- Writing module specifications and reviewing drafts.
- Code and documentation review
- PCB Schematic Review
The role requires familiarity with:
- The Linux command line.
- Version control software (SVN or Git).
Qualifications
- 'A' level grades (A or B) plus a degree in Electronics or Physics or relevant experience.
- At least 2 years of significant experience in FPGA design and be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the principals involved.
- Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams on fast paced projects is expected.
- A good understanding of the interaction between the FPGA, software and hardware design disciplines is required.
- Good academic background and the ability and enthusiasm to
find out about, and work in, new areas.
